Two friends, a holiday at Lake Garda and one question: why does finding the perfect restaurant have to be so frustrating?

The idea for SwipeIn came spontaneously on holiday. Dominik was at Lake Garda looking for a proper Neapolitan pizza – thick, fluffy crust, the real thing. The search was exhausting: scrolling through countless red pins on a map, desperately hunting through Google reviews for a photo that actually showed what he was after.
That's when it became clear: Eating out is an emotional decision. People often decide based on the first visual impression – you see a dish and instantly know: 'I want that.'
Together with Nico, the first prototype quickly followed. The logic was simple: you see photos of dishes and swipe right or left depending on whether the food appeals to you.
The first 100 downloads came fast through a few Instagram Reels, but we realised: just looking at photos isn't enough long-term. There was no real everyday value.
We only found the true core of the app during a group trip to Munich. We were a large group with very different needs: one person ate halal, another strictly gluten-free, and a third was vegan.
It was almost impossible to quickly find one restaurant that met everyone's requirements. In the end we had to split up for dinner – The problem wasn't a lack of choice, but that the information online simply wasn't well presented.
We understood that conscious eating – whether driven by conviction, religion or an intolerance – is the new normal.
When someone finds a restaurant that fits their needs, they can recommend it directly. Everyone helps everyone.
Is the meat organic? Is the produce local? We filter by attributes that are otherwise a pain to find.
No long text reviews. With SwipeIn you simply rate with badges and emojis – fast and easy for everyone.
Whether it's a night out with friends or you care about sustainability – we show you restaurants based on their real qualities.
Quality and passion should reach guests directly through real photos – moving beyond star ratings.
